‘Tell me why I am here’: Listening to women’s lost words

I was invited to give an adapted version of this talk at a meeting of Graduate Women Scotland East, the local branch of Graduate Women Scotland.  Founded in 1919 to improve the status of women and girls and to promote life long learning for women, this organisation also works to influence policy at the United Nations.

This was a Friends of Dundee City Archives lunchtime event, in conjunction with Dundee Women’s Festival and Dundee Local History Week.  My talk explored the ways in which we can access the voices of women among the records of the asylums at Dundee and Montrose.  Together with the team at University of Dundee Archive services, I created an online gallery to accompany the event.
